Scott (my amazing husband) and I went on a 2 day getaway at the end of August to Santa Ynez, just 45 minutes North of Santa Barbara. Santa Ynez is a quaint and charming town nestled in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country. Our mini vacation started when we checked into the lovely Victorian style, Santa Ynez Inn. We stayed in the Deluxe room on the second floor. Upon entering I fell in love with everything about the room. Our room came with a fireplace, King size bed, patio, jetted whirlpool tub, and double sinks in the bathroom. Every touch to the newly remodeled Inn was elegant and beautiful. I decided at that moment that we were not going to leave this inn during our stay. Maybe to get dinner, but that would be it!
The Santa Ynez Inn has a cozy large dining room with a big fireplace, where they serve a complimentary full gourmet breakfast in the morning, wine and hors d’oeuvres around 5pm, and coffee & dessert in the evening. A map of about 20 local wineries, many of which included complimentary tastings was also provided by the front desk.
We learned that this beautiful wood table in the dining room was purchased from Michael Jackson’s estate, which is located in Los Olivos, about 11 miles away, from Santa Ynez Inn.
Both mornings, we indulged our tastebuds with a delicious gourmet breakfast. The first morning I ordered Ricotta pancakes topped with fresh whipped cream and fresh seasonal local fruit and Scott ordered poached eggs with bacon and creamed spinach. Both dishes were AMAZING!
The second morning we both ordered delicious crepes with gruyere cheese with mornay sauce and two eggs. Again, we enjoyed a fantastic gourmet breakfast.
Our experience at the inn was such a relaxing treat, especially being busy parents to an energetic toddler. The best part of our stay at Santa Ynez Inn was knowing that we didn’t even have to drive anywhere since there were many wine tasting rooms and great restaurants within walking distance to the Santa Ynez Inn. The first night we stayed we dined at Trattoria Grappolo only 175 yards away and the second night we went to SY Kitchen, also only 175 yards away, maybe less. Both restaurants were fantastic. With many wineries and tasting rooms to choose from and fantastic restaurants that are walking distance, this was a perfect 2 day getaway for us. I definitely recommend Santa Ynez Inn for a nice relaxing vacation.
